چکیده

We propose a new declarative planning language, called K, which is based on principles and methods of logic programming. In this language, transitions between states of knowledge can be described, rather than transitions between completely described states of the world, which makes the language well-suited for planning under incomplete knowledge. Furthermore, it enables the use of default principles in the planning process by supporting negation as failure. Nonetheless, K also supports the representation of transitions between states of the world (i.e., states of complete knowledge) as a special case, which shows that the language is very flexible. As we demonstrate on particular examples, the use of knowledge states may allow for a natural and compact problem representation. We then provide a thorough analysis of the computational complexity of K, and consider different planning problems, including standard planning and secure planning (also known as conformant planning) problems. We show that these problems have different complexities under various restrictions, ranging from NP to NEXPTIME in the propositional case. Our results form the theoretical basis for the DLVK system, which implements the language K on top of the DLV logic programming system.

Analyzing the problem of meaning in Shabastari’s Golshane Raz

Man has always been finding a complete model for semantics since the beginning. A model which can as a paradigm affects all branches of sciences. In the view of author, such a model can be found in Golshane Raz. Introducing the model from the work mentioned, the paper has tried to explain its sub structural foundations in three fields of ontology, epistemology and semantics. Some of the foundat...

Investigating the relationship among complexity, range, and strength of grammatical knowledge of EFL students

Assessment  of  grammatical  knowledge  is  a  rather  neglected  area  of  research  in  the  field with  many  open  questions  (Purpura,  2004).  The  present  research  incorporates  recent proposals  about  the  nature  of  grammatical  development  to  create  a  framework  consisting of dimensions of complexity, range and strength, and studies which dimension(s) can best predict the stat...

Hierarchical Planning: Relating Task and Goal Decomposition with Task Sharing

Considerable work has focused on enhancing the semantics of Hierarchical Task Networks (HTNs) in order to advance the state-of-the-art in hierarchical planning. For instance, the Hierarchical Goal Network (HGN) formalism operates over a hierarchy of goals to facilitate tighter integration of decompositional planning with classical planning. Another example is the Action Notation Markup Language...

A Study of Process Languages for Planning Tasks

We present the semantics of processes for planning tasks. We target Task-Method-Knowledge (TMK) process models, a widely used formalization of processes. These semantics are formalized by proving that Task-Method-Knowledge (TMK) process models can be translated into equivalent Hierarchical Task Networks (HTNs). We construct a Turing-computable translation function that maps TMK process model co...

Contingency Planning in Linear Time Logic

The “planning as satisfiability” approach for classical planning establishes a correspondence between planning problems and logical theories, and, consequently, between plans and models. This work proposes a similar framework for contingency planning: considering contingent planning problems where the sources of indeterminism are incomplete knowledge about the initial state, non-inertial fluent...
